Royal Truck & Utility Trailer: The Ultimate Guide to Lowboy Trailers for Heavy Hauling

Low-loader or lowboy trailers are heavy-duty hauling equipment for overweight or overly tall cargo. Their unique design helps them stand out from standard box and open-bed trailers. Still, they’re essential to many industries because of their ability to transport materials that other trailers can’t handle.

Looking for a top-tier lowboy trailer? Turn to Royal Truck & Utility Trailer to explore a diverse inventory of new and pre-owned low-loader trailers. Our family-owned and operated company dedicates itself to provide superior personalized services and quality products to our customers.

Key Features of Lowboy Trailers

As the name suggests, lowboy trailers are low to the ground, which makes it easier to load and unload heavy, bulky, or oversized loads. They have two deck height drops, one behind the wheels and another behind the gooseneck or the curved joint that connects the trailer to a truck. The lowboy trailer’s low height also increases cargo stability while in transit for safe, prompt deliveries.

The load capacity for lowboy trailers varies depending on the trailer type. High-strength steel low-loader trailers can usually handle up to 50 tons or 100,000 pounds. Yet other options may have a weight capacity between 25 tons and 35 tons or 50,000 pounds to 70,000 pounds respectively.

Benefits of Using Lowboy Trailers

Maintaining excellent stability and safety while driving is crucial when transporting oversized or heavy cargo. If you don’t have a relatively stable trailer, you could damage your cargo or put others at risk. Thankfully, certain lowboy trailer features, like their low height and even weight distribution, make them ideal for hauling heavy materials, especially over long distances. The trailer’s low-lying deck also provides a low center of gravity, so cargo is less likely to shift during transport.

Another benefit of lowboy trailer is their versatility. These trailers accommodate overly tall, broad, bulky, and irregularly shaped cargo and heavy-weight items. As such, they’re ideal for safely hauling industrial and construction machinery, among other things. Purchase one and experience the benefits!

Applications of Lowboy Trailers

The use of lowboy trailers is prominent in the construction industry. It doesn’t matter where you’re completing a construction project in the country. You can ensure your job site has the following heavy machinery and more with help from lowboy trailers:

  • Excavators
  • Bulldozers
  • Backhoe loaders
  • Pavers

Besides construction equipment, lowboy trailers are also great for transporting agricultural equipment like tractors and industrial equipment such as oversized generators and cranes. If your hauling needs involve infrastructure projects, you can use lowboy trailers. Their high weight capacities and ability to transport oversized materials make transporting items like massive tanks and bridge beams a breeze. Consider purchasing one and seeing just how much it can offer to your project.

Choosing the Right Lowboy Trailer

When looking for a lowboy trailer to handle your heavy-duty hauling needs, you must consider several factors (including the following) so that you pick the right equipment for your business:

Deck Length

The trailer’s deck or bed can range from 26 feet to 53 feet.

Weight Capacity

For the most reliable heavy-duty hauling capabilities, choose a lowboy trailer with a weight capacity of at least 35 tons.

Axles

Though these trailers can have two to eight axles, picking one with more axles to support heavy weight is best.

The good thing about purchasing your lowboy trailer from Royal Truck & Utility Trailer is that you can customize your selection. Customizable options include everything from height and width to wheels and suspension systems.
